Prevention of Drug Abuse

Gaumee Itthihaad wants Maldivian community to be free of drugs. To curtail and prevent people from becoming addicts Gaumee Itthihaad will punish those individuals abusing drugs and enforce the maximum penalty allowed in the constitution to those who deal and import drugs. Strict management complemented by strict and professional surveillance at ports would reduce the import of drugs.

It has now become necessary to provide a special detention facility to hold drug abusers. Gaumee Itthihaad will ensure These facilities provide world standard, result oriented and appropriate rehabilitation programs for children and adults who are drug abusers.

Gaumee Itthihaad will introduce a juvenile justice system to help curb unlawful behavior amongst minors. Also the party will encourage our society to uphold social and Islamic values within the community
