Foreign Policy

The foreign policy of Maldives will be determined primarily by the national interests. Maldives will promote and support all actions that enhance regional and international peace and security. It will maintain friendly relations with all countries and explore trade and cultural relations with all. It will strengthen its relations with countries that wish to do the same through increased economic and political support. As a small state, Maldives will remain neutral in inter state disputes and support the international law. In terms of regional cooperation, Maldives will seek greater cooperation with SAARC and ASEAN countries.
